What you will do:

This position is established to investigate, identify, and encourage the implementation of industry best practices in flight training by the three ATSG airlines.  Works with the air carrier affiiates’ flight operations teams to promote aircraft operating and training standardization across the full flight operations crew spectrum, including check rides, classroom ground school, and computer-based training, while ensuring that safety of flight is the primary objective of all company operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with air carriers affiliates to identify, develop and implement best practices for ground and flight training across the ATSG carriers
  • Work closely with each carrier’s flight operations team to ensure their crew members are trained with respect to each carrier’s unique needs and operations
  • Works with each flight operations team to promote training/standardization of ground instructors
  • Works with each flight operations team to promote training/standardization of simulator instructors
  • Ensure compliance with all FAA regulations and record keeping requirements
  • Ensure that training materials are prepared, maintained and used in accordance with all regulatory requirements by periodically comparing said requirements with day-to-day activities and any audit inspection results
  • Coordinate with the appropriate agencies/authorities (FAA) and personnel regarding all matters concerning the approval of Flight Training Devices (FTDs) and appropriate training curriculum material, as requested
  • Coordinate all resources necessary for the conduct of training, as well as communication with air carrier affiliates and other customers before, during and after their training activity regarding effectiveness of training material
  • Serve as liaison and advocate for the air carrier affiliates in communications with their respective FAA FSDO’s  with respect to flight training matters
  • Analyze status of all current projects/plans involving flight training services and keep the airlines apprised of any issues
  • Work with air carrier affiliates in establishing quality and efficiency metrics
  • Develop classroom lectures, demonstrations and discussions, audiovisual presentations, distance learning, drill and practice sessions, oral and written examinations, and simulator training
  • Other duties as assigned

What you need:

  • High School Diploma required.  Bachelor degree desired
  • At least 5 years of experience in heavy aircraft operations with an emphasis in training and standardization
  • Ability to work in the United States
  • FAA issued Air Transport Pilot rating
  • Ability to understand, read, write, and fluently speak the English language
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to comprehend and explain highly technical data.  Ability to promote teamwork and cooperation within a team in order to accomplish complex tasks
